The Watts family Homicide Events and Findings !
The Watts family Homicide is one of the most terrifying and Mind Boggling Cases that I have learned of in my entire 38 years of life.
For those of you that don't know anything about this case, I would openly suggest to visit YouTube and Just type in Watts Family and anything you need to know beyond this blog you will find their.
The Watts family homicides occurred on the early morning of August 13, 2018, when Christopher Lee Watts (born May 16, 1985) murdered his pregnant wife Shanann Watts (born January 10, 1984) and their daughters Bella, 4, and Celeste, 3, in their home in Frederick, Colorado. Watts pleaded guilty on November 6, 2018, to multiple counts of first-degree murder.
In 2014 lil Bella Marie came along, the Watts first child, in which they were very happy and very proud. Shanann had to take fertility treatments in order to be able to get pregnant because of her sickness. You can imagine how ecstatic one might be. Bella was their pride and joy and pictures on social media would portray this happy family. Although the joy of parenthood lit up their life, their was some grey in the back ground. The Watts familys income wasn't enough to support their life style and in June 2015 they filed
bankruptcy. Now the year prior to them buying the home a $400,000 asset, their combined income $91,000. Chris Watts income made up for $63,000 of the total at Anadarko petroleum. The rest of the income was made from Shanann work for Colorado Childrens Hospital. With their combined income they were still about $70,000 in debt. Most of these debts come from Student loans and Credit Cards, and at this time the both reportedly had two saving's accounts with a total of $9.51 and a joint checking account with $864.00 total in that account, (Not a lot of money for the life style.) Also In July 2015 little Celeste (CeCe) would make her appearance in the world. This being an joy and the second child of Shanann and Chris, also added another expense to the family.
Financial situations such as this can put some awful stress on a marriage as we all can understand. Life and Luxury aren't cheap when your trying to live the American Dream. Shanann was a dreamer and she always dreamed of having more in life and would work hard to make sure that this would happen and their children would live a safe and healthy life. Shanann was strong and refused to let her sickness get her down, she would work two jobs and countless hours to help Chris make ends meet for their family. You know this could not be easy for a mom with Fibro and lupus.
Eventually Shanann would become a Direct Sales Independent Consultant with Le_Vel, (thrive) an MLM company were you promoted an health and wellness product that would help with energy and health. Shanann seemed to believe in this product and became an 80K VIP consultant in no time. It wasn't long til Shanann was at the top of the ladder and had convinced family and friends to join the adventure with her. She then became earning an income of between $80/90k a year. This had helped them start to climb out of the debt they were vastly sinking in. You would had thought this would had made the family a more happy and healthy family. Shanann posted many videos with Chris and the Kids appearing in these videos and they seemed to have an happy healthy all American Family relationship. You know the family we all want the life we all want. Seemed to have no worries in the world.
With the Thrive Co.. they had payed for many vacations in which the couple retreated on and seemed to have tons of fun, with Shanann vlogging them all. Chris appeared to be happy in supporting his wife in her new LifeStyle. Shanann is a very Chill, Supportive and very Loving friend and Mom. She loved what she did, and it showed through her videos and pictures of her life. Thrive even bought her a new $80,000 automobile a white 2018 Lexus. I believe I would love it too. For any of you who has ever worked for an MLM company it is hard work, yes it is up to you to work the hours you want but its what you make it, if you only work a couple hours a day your pay check will show. In May Shanann had announced that she was infact pregnant for a third time with another Watts little one. She announced this in a video via Social Media.

In July of 2018 Shanann and the Girls had a 6 week trip planned to visit both hers and Chris family and just enjoy a vacation with family from the Couples home town. Now on this trip Chris Watts would not be attended due to his work not allowing him off this legenth of time, but was going to be their for the last week to be with his family, including his mom, dad and sister. Now in June of 2018 Chris Watts had began having an affair with a girl named Nicole Kessinger, who was also employed by Anadarko P. were Chris also was employed. Chris had became more Pulled away from his family and seemed more distant from his wife. Shanann said before Chris Couldn't keep his hands off her and now he was sleeping on the couch at her mom and dads. The family had noticed a change in Chris behavior but shook it off as maybe him having some personal issues due to the incident of Shanann and his mom.
Stepping back to the week before Chris came to NC to be with his family, Shanann had took her girls both Bela 4 and CeCe 3, to their grandparents house (Chris's side) for a party and to let them visit with their grand kids. Now Shanann had told Chris to let his mom know that their was to be no Tree Nut's at the party due to both babies having allergies to these nuts with CeCe being the worst of all. CeCe's allergies were so bad that if she even got touched by someone who had been in contact with these nuts that she would or could go into anaphylactic shock. Cindy Watts completely ignored this and served the nuts and Shanann being a protective mom let Cindy know that this was not ok. (Cindy had mad her brags to others that she was gonna show Shanann that everything wouldn't always go her way and that she couldn't always get what she wanted). Shanann then contacted Chris and asked Chris to have a talk with his mom, Chris stood by his wife but also tried to defend his parents. Chris didn't have a loving relationship with his mom but he looked up and greatly respected his dad. This lead to Chris and Shannann having a heated discussion and argument via text. Chris had also made charges on cards and said things to Shanann that didn't make since. She had told a friend she believed he was having an affair. When Chris arrived in NC, he never made any attempt to hug his very pregnant wife. He hugged his girls and talked to them with a slight smile. He wasn't himself.
The sedcond week of July when they returned home Shanann was to go on a couple days trip with Level, Shanann really didn't want to go because of the problems in her marriage, and Chris being so weird. Chris convinced Shanann to go on with her trip that they would work on it when she gets back. The whole time Shanann was on her trip she stayed worried and sick, her and Chris would fight and Shanann would say that she didn't feel safe with him anymore since he had said he didn't want the Third Child. Shanann wasn't herself the whole trip, her friends reported her as worried and sick. Shanann also called and made an appointment with her baby doctor while on the trip for August the 13 at 10am. Shanann had also found out that while on this trip, Chris had hired a baby sitter for the girls claiming he was going to a rockys game with friends, that he had won from work(their was not a Rocky's game). He had infact been out with NK yet again. Shanann also was suspicious over recites from the credit card bills of being $60 for one person to eat? Shanann had requested pictures from Chris of the girls throughout the trip, one of the pictures he sent her through txt was very Disturbing to me and will be to anyone who has been reading about this case.
Shannann was dropped off at her home at 1:48am in the morning of August the 13th as shown on Ring Door Cam, she was dropped off by her friend Niki Utoft her bff and thrive promoter, she Hugged Shanann and told her she would see her latter that day, that would never happen unfortunately. Early that morning when Shanann hadn't messaged her friend Nickole Atkinson, she grew worried about her friend. NA tried calling and messaging Shannann multiple times with no reply. Nikii then contacted Shanann's mom and asked if she had herd from her, but unfortunately she hadn't either.
Nikole then decided to drive to Saratoga Trail, where she had dropped her friend off earlier that morning! To her surprise, the car was still in the garage, her shoes were still sitting by the door, the door was locked on the inside by a night latch that they installed to keep CeCe from escaping. Upon discovering no one visible in the home and Shanann's car still in the garage, she called Chris at work. Chris didn't seem worried and told her that she had went with a friend on a play date, NA wasn't believing it at all, and continued to call mutual friends and relatives that may have an idea of where she was. When Nikole kept hitting a dead end she would call Chris again and Chris then advised her to leave and not to call the cops. (RED FLAG).....Upon Chris telling her Nickole being an true friend called the cops anyway, asking for a welfare Check after calling the Baby Doctor and finding out that Shanann had in fact not been to her appointment and that was not like Shannann at all.
Shanann's mom calling Nickole let her know that the girls hadn't been sent to school that day either. When the cops arrived NA advised the cops that she was worried about her friend and let them know that she had diabetes and was worried something was wrong. The cop on call approached the Watts family home and began to knock and announce himself outloud to anyone in the home just incase the kids may be in the home or someone could yell out for help.
Th first cop arrived at the familys home at 1:4o pm and done a walk around knocking on all the windows and doors to the home. Nikole A. had showed the cop she could let him in she had the security code but the latch was keeping them out. Growing more and more scared and confused Nikole kept making phone calls with no leads. The cop then asked for Shananns phone number so that he could call and see if he herd the ring from inside the home. He called Shananns phone but not a single sound came from inside the home. Nikole then told police that it was highly unusual for Shanann not to answer her phone because of her job. Growing worried the cop asked the neighbor if he had saw anyone in or out of the home that day and the neighbor replied that he hadn't. Now by law a cop cannot break into or enter a home unless he sees reason to, like someone laying on the floor unresponsive or hurt, signs of a break in or a struggle.
At this time the officer requested CW cell number from Nickole and called Chris to ask him if he knew where his wife was and why she wasn't answering her phone, and CW replied that she said she was going on a play date with a friend, the cop then requested that CW return home to open the doors to check on his wife. Chris told the cop he was only minutes out and would be their shortly, which he had told Nickole the same thing, but it still took him a while to get home. Upon arriving at the home Chris didn't enter through the front door he took the cop through the door and exclaimed that the keycode box was broke that only the remotes would work it. ( I believe Chris fixed this so that no one could enter before he returned home). Now this seems funny to me, Chris first opens the Car door and bends down? Why? noticing the car seats were in the car NA grew more suspicious, because Shanann would never leave without putting her kids in a car seat. Chris then enters the house through the garage and goes to the front door and allows Nickole, her son, and the cop to enter the home. While entering the home they began to sweep the house looking for any sign of Shanann, Bella, & CeCe, which they weren't found inside the home, Chris still seemed not to be too worried. They then began to look for anything that would give them an idea of where she might be, the girls meds were still their, RED FLAG #1 (because Shanann never left without those), then it was noticed her bags were never unpacked from her trip, Shanann was a very organized OCD person and that would had been the first thing she would have done. RED FLAG #2, Her Phone was discovered in the upstairs living area between couch cushions buy Nickols son. REDFLAG #3, the phone was fully charged and turned off, even the cop said its very uncommon for a phone to be fully charged and turned off. Chris then went into his bedroom and came back out with Shananns wedding band hanging on the end of his finger and stated it had been on the night stand. (he acted like he didn't want it near him). He had no signs of remorse in his eyes no worries or tears. Chris was also asked to open Shanann's phone to were he said he didn't know the pass word and the only person who knew it was Shananns mom. (it was the babies due date). Their were missed texts and phone calls from numerous people, without a reply. As time passed the cops noticed Chris was acting funny and on the body cam you could see the body language Chris gave off and it wasn't that off someone whom was worried, it was of someone who was stressed and scared. Shanann's purse was then discovered in her office with her money and ID, so then it became a missing person because no one had saw her and nothing had been taken. Who could have done it and who was this sneaky to get passed these cameras? Chris reported Shanann and the girls were in bed when he left at 5am that morning, and he hadn't herd anything since.
Shanann Watts, 34, Bella Wats 4, and Celeste (CeCe) Watts 3, were now missing from their Fredrickson Colorado home and no one had a clue as to what happened or where they could be.
While being questioned Christopher Watts age 33 stated that Shanann had returned home at 2a.m. and he told her he wanted to separate at 5am. He then proceeded to tell the police that Shanann was going to take their daughters to a friend's house but he couldn't name the friend! (Seems Kind of Odd). Now when questioned by a different investigator Chris changed his story and said he had told Shanann that he wanted to separate around 4am. and she told him she was going to a friends house that day. This throwing a Red Flag to the authorities they began to suspect Chris really fast. They asked to search the house and bring in dogs to get the scents of the girls Chris never denied it, they found out of the ordinary that day the sheets were threw over in the corner of the bedroom, if Shanann was in bed when Chris left why was all the bed things taken off the bed? Chris is the one who done the laundry as he stated many times.
While digging further into the case against Chris they discovered he was infact having an affair with Ncole Kessinger. in which Chris wouldn't admit or tell the cops until a little later when the pressure was on. Im going to insert an picture of Nicole Kessinger. Here
without knowing the cops knew anything of this other woman the cops ordered transcripts of the messages between all of the parites involved that would suggest more to the story. Chris mad several attempts with pleading for the safe return of his family throughout many media/new channels. (How could he do this, and in the back of his mind know their not coming home?)
Chris was then asked to come into the police department for questioning and at this time he knew nothing of them suspecting him or any of his lies. Upon going down to the Police Department his dad would also be in another room being questioned at the exact same time. Chris was interrogated for hours prior to this time as well. He also agreed to take an polygraph test for the FBI, Chris the whole time maintained his innocence, knowing in the back of his mind he was guilty as HELL. Chris failed the lie detector miserably, and the authorities let him know right off that their was no more questions that he knew where his wife and daughters were. Chris then asked to speak to his father where he admitted to his dad that he had in fact flew off in a fit of rage and killed Shanann, he said to his dad that he saw Shanann strangling one of the girls and the other was already blue, he stated that they had had the discussion of separation and he went down stairs to work out before work, then when he returned upstairs he saw Shanann Strangling the girls. (This to me made no since at all). Also if you listen to the whole interrogation before he admits this, the lady says plainly did shanann hurt the girls and you flew off and hurt Shanann!! Is this what put this in Chris mind?
Now on Chris Truck which is his work truck, through Anadarko Petroleum, their is a GPS on the truck that tracks every move the truck makes from the time it starts and stops. Chris was the only one to leave the home on August the 13th, so they traced his tracks and flew a drone out to the Chris job site, and on the camera had discovered moved dirt (that was the shape of a small grave) a white sheet on the ground out in the grass; this called for a search of the area. On August 15th 2018 Chris Watts had been arrested for the murder of his wife at 15 weeks pregnant with a baby boy Nico Lee Watts, and her weet little Angels, they had in fact been murdered by the man that was supposed to protect them, the man that they trusted and Loved.
Chris watts had Choked his wife, and smothered his girls, He then loaded their bodies into his work truck and took them to their final resting place. On one of Colorado's biggest oil and gas drillers were Chris was employed by Anadarko, Shannann was found buried in a shallow grave about nine inches below the surface grade at the site. Her daughters Bella and CeCe were found inside the oil tanks on the property.
How could a dad, who was so loving and showed so much compassion and love for his family turn into a monster? Chris watts is an Family annihilator, he had no remorse. Reports say that Bella had fought back against her dad, with bruised gums and bitten tongue, CeCe showed no signs of fighting back against the man that was supposed to protect them. This little angel probably thought it was a game since her daddy was a man she trusted.
This took work from both former coworkers of Chris to retrieve the bodies of his daughters from these tanks. They had to work throughout the day to drain the tanks to retrieve the bodies. I could only imagine the thoughts running through their minds at this time.
In my next Blog Post we will be discussing a little more about Nicole Kessinger, and the other unfamiliar things less spoke about. Also we need to clear Shanann's name from being accused of killing her baby girls. She is not here to stand up for herself so we need to help protect her name and everything she worked to protect and build.
